
Arhar dal ki khichdi is so mouth watering and full of nourishment that it is worth eating. It is very easy to prepare and full of taste, kids love it and adults adore it. In todays world we all love to have something spicy and tasty, so as you see the name Khichdi you discard it without even knowing that this one has all taste and is very spicy too. so try it. Serve Arhar Dal Khichdi hot with Curd and Achaar. You can also serve Baigun ka bharta with it. Arhar dal ki khichdi recipe is available in Hindi (हिंदी) and English both.
Ingredients of Arhar dal ki khichdi:-
- Rice – 350 gm
- Arhar/ Tur Dal – 150 gm
- Water – 1 Lt
- Pure Ghee – 2 tablespoon
- Onion – 1 piece finely chopped
- Tomato – 2 piece finely chopped
- Fresh Coriander Leaves – 15 gm finely chopped
- Fresh Green Chili – 1 finely chopped
- Asafetida – ½ teaspoon
- Cumin Seed – 1 teaspoon
- Garam Masala – 1 teaspoon
- Red Chili Powder – 1 teaspoon
- Coriander Powder – 2 teaspoon
- Turmeric Powder – 1.5 teaspoon
- Salt – 2 teaspoon
How to prepare Arhar dal ki khichdi:-
- Take Rice and Dal together and soak it for half an hour.
- Now take a cooker on full gas and put Desi Ghee in it.
- When heated put Asafetida in it, Cumin Seed and Garam Masala.
- Now put Onion in it and fry it till it is reddish in color.
- Now put Red Chili Powder, Turmeric Powder and Coriander Powder in it, add Tomatoes in it and Salt. Put Fresh Coriander Leaves, Fresh Green Chili in it, let it fry till tomatoes are roasted.
- Mix in small intervals.
- Now wash Rice Dal mixture and put it in the cooker with water.
- Mix it well and close lid.
- Wait for 4 whistle then simmer gas and wait for 2 whistles.
- Close gas and let it be in steam.
- Hot Tip:- Easy measurement for this Khichdi is, take a small bowl and take 2 bowl Rice and 1 bowl Dal and put 6 bowl of water in it. Note bowl will be the same.
- Open the lid and serve Arhar Dal Khichdi hot with Curd and Achaar. You can also serve Baigun ka bharta with it.
